(More customer reviews)I've had a Biesemeyer Commercial fence system for over 12 years now and I recently had to bite the bullet and purchase this unit again after all these years because I had the 30" fence and extension table and my business had grown to where I was now doing projects much larger in size.
Let me just say first and foremost that this really is a great, strong, accurate unit that is a pleasure to use. But my new unit just arrived and I'm a little disappointed.
1) The color is white. My Unisaw is dark gray. Who's the white for, Jet? Delta (for the month or two they sold that color?) The Platinum farce they had going on when those two months went by? They made gray for decades and I expected Gray.
2) I compared the table legs and noticed the new ones use smaller angle stock. It's a little shorter (making it more difficult) where you attach them to the extension table.
3) The cursor (the unit where the fine line indicates your chosen cut dimension) isn't made of clear plastic and a metal plate anymore...it's all plastic. How much money could they have saved with this shortcoming?
4)Some (not all) of the supplied bolts aren't the heavy duty #4 phillips bolts anymore. The front bar is held on by smaller bolts and nuts. Now I'll concede that I don't know yet whether these smaller bolts will be just as strong but I'm sure going to find out over these next few years.
5) My new fence comes with a BIESEMEYER decal across it. That's fine except I had the part # for that with my old fence and called Delta regularly to get one which my fence did not have and they told me for years that it was impossible to get. Now I can see they lied.
6) My current/old fence finally warped, probably due to excessive LACK of moisture where I live and I want to purchase side pieces for it but with Delta taking over I'm afraid to call. (Have you ever actually gotten yelled at by that women over there?) Customer service is a joke as far as I can tell. I've gotten professional help once and I've gotten mean, attitude and confused clearks all the other times. Most, as far as I can tell don't like humans.
If they didn't try to skimp on the thinner metal, the no metal curser plate and the smaller bolt size I might have been willing to forget the color mismatch but now they have over $1200.00 of my money for both these purchases (including mobile bases legs extension tables and actual fence's) Why are they cheapening it? Aren't they making a profit the way it is? and I feel like they are going to keep this up till it gets so cheep that it doesn't work anymore. Another great American success story.The thing is already $400.00 plus...keep it heavy duty and charge a couple bucks more if you feel your shareholders are getting antsy. Or you will lose the reputation that took Biesemeyer years to acquire.
